Water Adaptation Community
The Water Adaptation Community is connecting and supporting a wide range of practitioners to accelerate water and climate adaptation. Our members are individuals working in various roles, from urban planning to climate change management, and from water governance to climate financing.
Our aim is to foster global, best-practice, knowledge-sharing as a strategy to accelerate water-related climate adaptation. We have four communities of practice 1. Urban Climate Resilience, 2. Deltas, 3. Coasts, 4. Islands. All are sharing knowledge of science, policies, governance, financing, strategy innovations, and implementation, often reaching beyond the water sector.
The Water Adaptation Community facilitators act as the knowledge broker between community members, and national and international policymakers through a partnership with the International Panel on Deltas and Coastal Areas (IPDC). The IPDC consists of three layers: the champions group for policy and finance; the science layer; and the action holder layer. The panel launched in March 2023 with 11 member countries and two international financing groups. By becoming active members of the Water Adaptation Community, researchers and practitioners can bring their knowledge and experiences directly to the IPDC.
