iego J. Rodríguez is currently a Lead Water Economist for Eastern and Southern Africa based in the Bank’s office in Pretoria where he is responsible for analytical work on climate change, resilience, and urban water security. Prior to this, he spent five years as a Senior Water Resources Management Specialist based in the Bank’s office in Mexico City where he was responsible for the formulation and implementation of lending operations, and the design and implementation of sectoral, policy, and analytical studies. At the global level, he leads an initiative on water in the circular economy and resilience (WICER) and also leads the team responsible for implementing the decision tree framework for incorporating resilience and climate and non-climatic uncertainty into water resource planning and investment project design. Prior to joining the World Bank, he worked at the Inter-American Development Bank and the Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI). He holds a PhD in Economics (Water), an MA in Applied Economics and a BS in Economics. He has more than 25 years of experience in economic analysis of projects, non-market economic valuation, hydro economic analysis, and in incorporating water in macroeconomic frameworks.
